delicious. PRODUCE AWARDS WINNER
WHY DID GRASMERE GINGERBREAD WIN?
First and foremost, it’s astonishingly good. There’s nothing like it. It has more than 150 years of heritage, it’s produced to an original Victorian recipe on the site where it was first created, and it’s been a sought-after treat since the railways began bringing visitors to the Lake District in the 19th century. Owners Joanne and Andrew Hunter, a dedicated husband-and-wife team, have worked hard to increase the renown of the gingerbread, going to hundreds of regional shows, attiring staff in Victorian-inspired garb and taking every opportunity to showcase founder Sarah Nelson’s inspiring story. Grasmere and its delicately spiced treat have become a highlight on the tourist map.
