It’s a month of new beginnings as schools re-open, the wheat fields have been harvested and Mother Nature’s clock counts down to autumn. Take time, though, to relish summer’s last hurrah… Hedgerows bulge with berries and branches bow, heavy with fruit. Pick now to freeze or make jams to keep the bounty going. Cosy up under a blanket and al fresco feasts can be an option for a while longer.
