Diesel&EcoCar Magazine  |  317
If you’re looking to buy yourself a four-wheel-drive vehicle to get through this winter, or have an interest in them, then you really can’t miss the next issue of Diesel Car, as it’s jam packed with 4x4 and off-road news, road tests, features and a comprehensive used car buyer’s guide. In all, 26 new cars are tested in the December issue, the headline act being the first twin test of the Range Rover Sport, which battles it out for class honours against the Porsche Cayenne.
We’ve also got our hands on Subaru’s latest Forester, which meets the Volkswagen Tiguan, and driven the facelifted Land Rover Freelander 2, the new base model Nissan Navara Visia, as well as the new Mercedes-Benz GL-Class, Honda CR-V 2.2 i-DTEC automatic and Mitsubishi Outlander 2.2 DI-D equipped with a manual gearbox. Chevrolet’s facelifted Captiva gets the Diesel Car test treatment too, as does the Fiat Panda 4x4, the Subaru XV 2.0D that is now better value as a result of a price cut and Volvo’s all-wheel-drive V60 Plug-In Hybrid.
Other hot metal that’s tested this month includes the Citroën Grand C4 Picasso, the facelifted Vauxhall Insignia, new Mazda3 and Audi’s A3 Saloon, as well as the Skoda Rapid Spaceback, Volkswagen Golf BlueMotion and GTD and Nissan’s new Note. We’ve also driven the all-electric BMW i3, Infiniti Q50, Subaru Outback Lineartronic, Volvo V60 equipped with the all-new 2.0-litre D4 engine and finally the BMW 5 Series which has received a range of subtle updates.
We also report from the media launch of the Range Rover Sport to give you a behind the scenes insight into exactly what goes on, and we prove that you don’t actually need four-wheel-drive to get moving in slippery conditions, by taking a Peugeot 2008 equipped with mud and snow tyres to the Snow Dome. There’s also a comprehensive used car buyer’s guide on the Mazda CX-7 2.2 Diesel Sport Tech.
