Back in the 70s when I was a kid; Keep on Truckin’ was a catchphrase that was common to hear. While movies such as Smokey and the Bandit and Convoy were the big screen blockbuster movies of the time, Keep on Truckin was a phrase that also meant to keep fighting, keep going. The 70s had a lot of turmoil and it was a decade when people needed an uplifting phrase. Well, that one stuck. It even has a very popular poster illustrated by Robert Crumb.
Back in the 70s I lived in the Midwest and I was a kid that loved big rig trucks. I fell into the excitement of the independence and freedom that the open road offered. My mom at the time ran flag for wide loads and I would accompany her on the long highway runs. We made a lot of friends, ate a lot of diner food, and listened to a lot of great music.
