BIG FINISH RRP £14.99 (CD), £12.99 (download)

Big Finish’s ongoing series of adaptations of Virgin Doctor Who novels from the 1990s is a little like a treasure hunt, digging up and renovating long-lost stories for old and new fans alike. Quite right too. The influence of these books can’t be denied; they filled a vacuum and broadened the scope of Doctor Who storytelling by binning those pesky budgetary limitations. When the series returned to TV, if you squinted, you could see an occasional nod to The New Adventures – but for many years it felt like the long-out-of-print range was buried.
