Angel Interceptor

Following the crash of the Byzantium starliner, the Weeping Angels have escaped – and so has River Song! Is the Time Team happy to see her return...?

The continuing mission to watch all 826 episodes of Doctor Who, in order from the start...

What is that?” splutters Michael, as he spots a sinister effigy sitting on the shelf in Will’s front room.

Will grins. “It’s a toby jug of the Sixth Doctor,” he says. “I looked on eBay for a Weeping Angel statue to put up there. Y’know, to get us in the mood for The Time of Angels.”

Emma walks over to it and scowls. “That’s not a Weeping Angel.”

“Well, no,” admits Will, “but that’s what ended up catching my eye.”

Chris inspects the garish object, not daring to blink: “I’m sure the Sixth Doctor didn’t have a big, red handle coming out of the back of his head.”

“Oh yes he did,” chuckles Michael. “John Nathan-Turner thought it would make him seem more alien.”

Emma backs away. “Well, I’ll be keeping my eye on it while we watch the episode,” she says, fearfully. “I don’t want it catching me unawares.”

Something has definitely caught Josh, a young security guard, unawares as the episode kicks off. He’s lolling around in a field looking dazed, with a lipstick kiss on the side of this mouth.

“His night out must have gone well,” smirks Chris.

“This is an a nicely odd first shot,” adds Michael, as we see two other guards and a suave chap in a dinner jacket run towards Josh – who rather oddly is played by pop star Mike Skinner from The Streets.

“Unexpected,” agrees Will. “And it’s shot like one of his videos.”

As ever with twisty-turny old Steven Moffat, all is not as it appears. Josh is actually slumped in a spaceship corridor. Mr Black Tie realises that the lipstick is hallucinogenic. But who is its wearer...?
