Sweet Dreams?

Is Amy living with Rory in Leadworth, or is she still travelling with the Doctor in the TARDIS? Which is the dream and which is reality? It’s Amy’s choice...

Amy’s pregnant?!” gasps Emma, at the sight of the Doctor’s companion with a mahoosive baby bump, tucking into a bowl of cake mix. “That was an unexpected leap ahead! Did the Doctor accidentally leave them behind for a few years again?”

“Amy shouldn’t be eating batter in her condition,” tuts Michael, shaking his head. “There’s raw eggs in that. If this turns out to be a story in which ‘Amy’s Choice’ is between two worlds, one of which is real and the other a dream, that fact alone means this is almost certainly the dream.”

The other members of the Time Team completely ignore him, because they’ve caught sight of possibly the most terrifying thing in the entire history of Doctor Who so far.

“Gosh, is that a rat on the back of Rory’s head?” says Emma of the horrendous ponytail he’s sporting, as he cycles up to the door of an idyllic country cottage.

Amy and Rory’s domestic bliss is rudely interrupted by a familiar wheezing, groaning sound. It’s the Doctor, in their front garden, trampling over their blooms.

“A wee reunion!” says Chris. “Although weren’t we all together and adventuring just last week?” he adds, puzzled. Time has indeed passed. Amy and Rory are settled back in Leadworth, married, and expecting a new arrival. Things aren’t quite right, though.

“A very empty village,” notes Will. “Another Android Invasion?” he wonders, as the Doctor and his friends wander through the empty streets...

“Upper Leadworth?” says Michael, raising an eyebrow. “Nice way to cover up the fact that it’s clearly a completely different village.”

After a brisk walk through the village, Amy’s knackered, so she and the others park themselves on a handy bench. They soon realise that they’re all unusually tired, and start to nod off. Birds tweet, the world spins a bit, and the three of them are back in the TARDIS, looking much more like how we left them in Venice.
