Your views on everything going on in the hectic world of Doctor Whoa

It was with great sadness that we heard of Deborah Watling’s passing on 21 July; we’ll pay tribute to her next issue. But for now, here’s what you had to say following the announcement of the Thirteenth Doctor on Sunday 16 Julya

■ CRAIG ELLIOT EMAIL And so, the identity has been revealed. Jodie Whittaker will be the new Doctor. As social media goes into meltdown, I, for one, am looking forward to exciting possibilities. I will miss Peter Capaldi but am keen to see this newest incarnation. The new Doctor is a woman and it’s about time!

■ JAMES BUCKINGHAM EMAIL I’ve never wanted a tennis match to end as quickly as the Wimbledon 2017 Men’s Final. Fortunately, when the reveal finally happened and the new Doctor removed her hood I couldn’t have been happier with the face underneath. Jodie Whittaker was great as Beth Latimer in Broadchurch and I can’t wait to see what qualities she brings to the role of the Doctor.

■ DOMINIC FELLOWS LIVERPOOL New showrunner Chris Chibnall and Jodie Whittaker have already made TV history and created a legacy that will outlive us all. They don’t need my validation, but heck they’ve got it anyway. Well done Chris and welcome Jodie to the big, mad, worldwide family that is Doctor Who. You are going to love it!
