Letter from The Editor

There’s a lot of noise surrounding Doctor Who at the moment, but ironically I haven’t read much about the way it’s sounding.

One of my favourite takes on the Doctor Who theme is a version that never actually accompanied a television episode. The 2001 arrangement by Orbital recaptured much of the ‘radiophonic’ mystery that made Delia Derbyshire’s original so groundbreaking. I felt that Orbital’s Phil and Paul Hartnoll had an instinctive grasp of the essentially menacing aspects that have imbued the most successful interpretations of Ron Grainer’s tune.
