Five Doctor Who stories will be published as Target Books next month – the first new titles in the range for almost 27 years.
The original Target Books novelised nearly every Doctor Who story broadcast on television, with over 150 titles published between 1973 and 1991. For this new range, Russell T Davies has novelised Rose, the episode which relaunched Doctor Who back in 2005, and Steven Moffat has adapted the 50th Anniversary Special The Day of the Doctor (2013). Davies’ 2005 Special The Christmas Invasion (the first full story for the Tenth Doctor) has been adapted by Jenny T Colgan, and Twice Upon a Time (the 2017 Christmas Special, and Moffat’s last script for the series) has been adapted by Paul Cornell. In addition, James Goss’ novelisation of the 1979 story City of Death, first released in 2015, will be republished in Target Book form. The artwork for the book covers has been created by Anthony Dry, echoing the style of the 1970s illustrations by Chris Achilleos. All five titles will be published by BBC Books on 5 April with an RRP of £6.99 each. There will be a book signing event at Forbidden Planet in London on 13 April, with all five authors in attendance.
