Your views on the world of Doctor Who

Series 11 by Buster Owen.

The Woman Who Fell to Earth aired on Sunday 7 October and introduced Jodie Whittaker as the Doctor along with her new friends Graham (Bradley Walsh), Ryan (Tosin Cole) and Yaz (Mandip Gill). The Doctor Who Magazine inbox was overwhelmed with your emails…

The Woman Who Delivered

On 16 July last year I was delighted to find out that Jodie Whittaker was the new Doctor. Lately, though, I’d been getting rather nervous. Was Jodie going to be as good as I’d hoped and thought? Did I believe Jodie was going to be great simply because I wanted to see a woman in the role?

Tonight, though, all my fears are gone. With an instinctive understanding of who and what the Doctor is, she absolutely owns every single scene. The story itself is nothing special It’s a pretty average Doctor Who episode. But that’s to be expected as it’s got a job to do – introducing us to the new cast, which it does admirably.

What a fantastic start to a brand-new era of Doctor Who! Chris Chibnall provided a hugely effective opener in The Woman Who Fell to Earth and Jodie Whittaker brought incredible energy to the role of the Doctor. She was quite marvellous. It very much had a feeling of being new but the little nods to the show’s rich history were welcome. Things felt very real right from the off and our brand-new show looks pretty spectacular.
