SPACE RACE

Four thousand competitors entered the Rally of the Twelve Galaxies but just two finalists vied for the prize of 3.2 trillion krin. One of them was Angstrom, played by Susan Lynch.

Susan Lynch is bursting to share something with us…

“I’ve got to tell you: my best friend never misses your publication. He always reads Doctor Who Magazine. His name is John Fox. I never call him John; it’s always John Fox. Isn’t that such a cool-sounding name? When I told him I was speaking to you he was like, ‘Oh my goodness.’ And I thought, ‘I’ve got to get them to print his name.’”

So this piece is dedicated to you, John Fox. “He’s going to lip when he sees his name in the magazine. Seriously, he is such a Doctor Who super fan. When people say they haven’t seen it, he’s literally like, ‘What do you mean, you haven’t seen Doctor Who?’

John Fox was one of the first people Susan told when she found out she was going to be appearing in the 2018 series. “He was so excited. As was my six-year-old – he thought it was so cool that his mum was going to be in Doctor Who.”

Even cooler still, his mum was playing an alien in The Ghost Monument, an adventure set on another planet and recorded in South Africa. “It was such a wonderful way to kick-start my year – I had so much fun. You know all the stuff that you always wanted to do as a kid? I got to do all of it. I got to pull a gun out. I got to react to a spaceship flying over my head. I got to do loads of running and action stuff. When else am I ever going to get the chance to do that? It was like a child’s dream.”
