Carnival of Monsters

THE TARDIS BRINGS THE DOCTOR AND JO TO THE hold of a ship apparently sailing to Bombay in 1926, although the Doctor can’t believe they’ve deviated so greatly from their intended destination. The mystery deepens when the vessel encounters a Plesiosaurus, which should be long extinct, and the Doctor learns that the ship is the SS Bernice, which disappeared without trace on this very day.

Meanwhile, the showman Vorg and his assistant Shirna arrive with their miniscope on the planet Inter Minor, getting a frosty reception from the officious Admissions Tribunal of Pletrac, Kalik and Orum, who are wary of aliens.
