Hell Bent

THE DOCTOR STOPS AT A NEVADA DINER WHERE the waitress looks exactly like his late companion Clara Oswald, yet he seems not to recognise her. When he plays a sad song called Clara on his guitar, the waitress asks him who she is. The Doctor recounts the tale of a visit to Gallifrey…

After his confession dial ordeal, the Doctor heads for a familiar barn on the desert plains. An old woman fusses before recognising him. She warns him that he will be killed.

The Doctor sits outside the barn eating soup, as welcoming committees are sent from the city. A military craft, the General and the High Council are all ignored before Lord President Rassilon arrives. Rassilon explains that the Doctor could have walked away from his torment if he’d provided information about the Hybrid, the creature it is predicted will one day stand in Gallifrey’s ruins. Rassilon orders the Doctor’s execution, but his firing squad lay down their arms. The President is deposed and exiled from Gallifrey.

About Doctor Who Magazine

The Doctor’s own people, and his home planet, were introduced in 1969 as a major chapter in the series’ history came to an end. Five decades later, the Time Lords and their devastating war with the Daleks are still essential parts of Doctor Who’s mythology. This special publication analyses every story set on Gallifrey, reveals previously unseen images from the making of the episodes and interviews key players in the Time Lords’ fascinating story.
