After spending an overnight in the cool yet cosy design environment of The George hotel in Rye for this issue’s Design Destination feature (page 142),
I thought a lot about how our houses are influenced by the ‘mini-break’ culture we’ve all become so accustomed to now. Whether it’s the idea of a romantic roll top bath that sits under the light- drenched sash window or a spacious walk-in shower room with warm, fluffy towels and delectable eco products, there’s just so much about the hotel and holiday business that informs our
bedrooms and bathroom ideas now. And
why not? If you can have this level of
comfort away from home, there’s nothing stopping you recreating it in
a domestic setting. From spa experience showers to luxurious heating underfoot, these expectations are explored in our round-up of statement shower schemes in Spash Out (page 122) and 10 Things You Need to Know About Underfloor Heating (page 104). You can also take a glimpse of some very achievable yet clever bedroom schemes in Inspiring Spaces (page 142). Meanwhile, with spring just around the corner, we start thinking of clearing the air and getting things in order for new season, and one of the places you most likely will want to start with is your kitchen. Larders and pantries are making a huge comeback, and in Store and Order (page 82) we look at some of the kitchen companies stepping up to create these new-look sculleries. Think bespoke storage solutions, luxurious finishes, sleek foldaway doors - and that’s just for starters. My new-season wishlist is already taking shape, and chief among kitchen additions will be a good extraction system. But where to start? I’m turning to Clean and Airy (page 109) for our essential selection of cooker hoods, and you may wish to join me! Enjoy the issue.

Best value interiors mag!

I have been planning my new kitchen and home renovation for quite some time, it seemed to be taking ages to find quality inspiration and I bought so many different magazine trying to get ideas, until I downloaded an issue of EKBB. It was brilliant, there is so much inside and now I've got plans to renovate the whole house! It's real value for money and now I've got a subscription too! Reviewed 19 July 2013
