Issue Cover

Evolution Magazine  |  Issue 26

Issue 26 is possibly the first issue we’ve not only featured every generation of Evo, but also shoehorned in the Lancer Turbo too – the whole
family under one cover! And in true evolutionstyle they’ve come from several continents from around the world! Nick Phillip’s Evo IX from good old Blighty rightly deserves its place on this issue’s front cover. It’s the second incarnation of this amazing machine and is a testament to Nick’s addictions for the marque.
Another Nick – this time Nicholas Johnson - hails from New Zealand and is the lucky owner of one of the best first generation Evos we’ve seen. A super lucky find not just for Nicholas but the car itself, as Nick plans to keep the car as original as possible.
Head North from NZ and you’ll hit Japan – the ancestral home of the Evo, and also home to the ex-works Ralliart Evo 3 rally car featured in #26. A super rare and hugely important car in rallying history, it seldom sees the light of day but Anthony Cox recently tracked it down in its retirement!
Moving across the Pacific to the USA, we get back into the wild side of Evo ownership thanks to Bruce Amurao whose glaring Evo X is a sight for sore eyes! Bruce also had a part to play in the creation of Karl Magtoto’s stunning silver Evo IXwhich and it’s a pleasure to see both cars grace
the pages of evolution. Back to the UK we catch up with Rich & Carly Beel’s stunning Evo V GSR. If the car seems familiar it was featured many years ago in Issue 57 of Wastegate Chatter (for those of you who were around then!) when owned by John Fletcher. Last but not least is my own ex-works Lancer Turbo. Ok, I admit it - I’ve made an executive decision to include it, but it’s the first time in 21 years I’ve featured my own car. It’s quite a special
