Bruichladdich THROUGH THE LENS

Bruichladdich is a small Scottish distillery on the remote Isle of Islay. It specialises in producing artisanal single malt whisky, just as it did in 1881. Finnish photographer Anton Suckdorff takes us on a tour of the distillery where time has stood still.
With tasting equipment and glasses in hand, Adam Hannett, Head Distiller (l), walks with Jim McEwan, retired Master Distiller, through a cask warehouse. The oak barrels used to age the whisky are stacked three high. All the warehouses sit on or above the shores of Lochindaal so that the ozone-rich Atlantic air permeates the malt during the many slow years of maturation.
