£8m project to restore Highbury
An £8 million fundraising project has been launched to help restore the Birmingham estate of the Chamberlain family, one of the nation’s leading political dynasties.
Chamberlain Highbury Trust has already been granted £500,000 by Birmingham City Council towards the restoration of Highbury Hall in Moseley – the former Victorian Gothic home of iconic social reformer, politician and Birmingham mayor Joseph Chamberlain (1836-1914). Plans include the creation of a centre of leadership and engagement for young people in civic governance, exhibitions on the history of the Chamberlain family, and the restoration of 30 acres of grounds.
