Elected as new chair to the trustees is Graham Walter. Graham has been a member of the Society of Genealogists since 2004, with an interest in family history research spanning 35 years. Professionally he is an IT manager with Nissan and Renault, and has also worked in insurance and banking organisations.
He is a professional member of the British Computer Society and in the family history community, volunteers with the society’s Educational Outreach programme attending various family history fairs and society open days, showing people how to make use of online services for their family history research.
Graham has also been an instructor at the British Institute run by the International Society for British Genealogy and Family History in Salt Lake City. He is a regular speaker in the genealogical community.
New vice chair Heather Nowlam is a professional genealogist with over 15 years’ experience, a registered Ancestry ProGenealogist contractor, and an AGRA Associate.
Heather has run a number of her own businesses within the wedding industry for nearly 20 years, including eCommerce websites. She is also the treasurer of the civilian committee for the 5F RAF Air Cadets, a self-funding charitybased organisation governed by the MOD.
