The family history world is poised for an exciting year with several major conferences in the pipeline, filling the gap left by the demise of Who Do You Think you Are? Live.
Kicking off the 2018 genealogical calendar is the world’s biggest family history event, RootsTech, which takes place in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA from 28 February to 3 March, hosted by FamilySearch International. Several UK genealogists attend this popular global event, but if you’re not one of then, lectures are usually streamed online for family history fans who have to stay home. Visit www.rootstech.org
The Federation of Family History Societies is holding two big public conferences this year, Every Ancestor Matters from 13-15 April in Bristol and Beyond the Census III in London on 29 September. Visit the website at www.ffhs.org.uk and email education@ffhs.org.uk to register your interest.
Another exciting new date for your diary is Secret Lives 2018 – Hidden Voices of our Ancestors. Sponsored by Family Tree, this major residential conference is being hosted from 31 August to 2 September at Hinckley in Leicestershire by four more leading UK genealogical organisations: The Association of Genealogists and Researchers in Archives, Guild of One-Name Studies, Halsted Trust and the Society of Genealogists.
