The Georgians by Penelope J. Corfield
Chockablock with mentions of people and events of the era, Penelope Corfield’s work is as thorough as would be hoped, the facts woven to tell a detailed account of Georgian history, covering numerous themes and trains of thought. With an era so heavily romanticised by subsequent generations, it is interesting and useful to note that the misdeeds are covered too – most notably in the closing chapter which specifically, among other topics, covers the legacy of slavery and considerations as to how to represent and interpret Georgian history for today.
