Every single one of us has cause to thank the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for their tireless efforts in making genealogical information widely available freely to all family historians. From the days of the microfiche IGI, to records now currently held on their magnificent FamilySearch website (familysearch. org), I know my research has benefitted greatly; without census CDs and the hair-raising drives to the LDS Family History Library in Sutton Coldfield with my equally besotted friend Maureen, my journey would have been much less exciting.
I’d love the LDS forever, if only for Elizabeth Wing, who on 25
August 1760 married my 5x greatgrandfather William Veasey in Withybrook, Warwickshire, thus connecting two perfectly-formed but unproven halves of my paternal line. Elizabeth evaded me for most of my genealogical life and it was a very shouty moment when I discovered her at long last. I swear she’d never been there before, which proves the oft stated point about returning to old searches every so often.
