The valuation map showing part of Barnet
A recent release of a batch of IR 121 records from TheGenealogist has brought family historians another fascinating set of Valuation
Office survey records 1910-1915. These were created as part of the 1910 Finance Act in order to levy rates on property and are known to many family historians as the Lloyd George Domesday survey. The records include field books and their very detailed accompanying annotated ordnance survey maps.
This occupier and landowner resource is a godsend for the family historian looking for where their ancestor lived, as TheGenealogist website allows you to search by forename, surname, street, parish or plot number. The fully searchable records for Barnet have now joined the previously released Paddington and the City of London records with this ongoing project set eventually to cover the country.
