The Russian Arctic Convoy Museum Project exists to remember and document the efforts, challenges, sacrifice and struggles of the period from 1941- 1945 of the Second World War. The museum is split over several sites around Loch Ewe in Scotland from which many of the vessels departed during this time-period. The museum project is totally volunteerled and can be found online at www.theracmproject.org The website explains the aims and aspirations of the project with the formal executive plan being available to download from the bottom of the page at www.theracmproject.org/about
The museum’s website can be found at www.russianarcticconvoymuseum.org and it includes a list of some of the veterans who were on the Convoys during this time, along with some information about them, which has either been submitted by the former serviceman themselves or from a family member. Some include a photograph. It is well worth reading through the write ups in case there is a mention of your family member if they served in this geographical region and you do not have access to their Naval service record. The museum is also trying to capture the memories from the dwindling number of former servicemen, so this can be a legacy of this wartime campaign, and will also accept submissions of your relative’s time spent working on the Convoys.
