Project
Can you tell what it is yet?
I’ve always had a bit of a soft spot for big old ZXRs. I had an H1 back in my yoof; jumping off an Aprilia RS125 onto it left a lasting impression on me. It was a different world of performance to what I had experienced back then, although nowadays a stock one does feel a tad slow and lardy, especially when compared to my Spondon Turbo. And that’s kind of how the idea of this project came about. Without spending much money (less than £1000 not including bits I already had), I wanted to build something that looks like a late 80s race bike, is comfy, has reasonable performance and handles a bit more like a modern bike that I can use every day and maybe on the odd trackday. Luckily I used to race H1 ZXRs and I had squirrelled away a lot of nice parts ready for this project, and through some wheeling, dealing and very lucky eBay(ing) I had most things to make a good start on building the bike.
