FlyPast Magazine November 2013 Back Issue

English
207 Reviews   •  English   •   Aviation & Transport (Aviation)
Only $7.99
Don’t miss November’s new FlyPast, a special issue featuring an exclusive insight into what it’s like to fly the world’s only airworthy Avro Vulcan. We spoke to pilot Kev Rumens about day-to-day life with this iconic jet, the passions and the pitfalls of operating such a famous – but costly – aircraft. With this magnificent machine currently grounded due to a fuel leak, an all-important campaign is now afoot to get it back in the air. Our feature includes exclusive images from Kev himself, and numerous air-to-air views from professional cameramen.

Spotlight: North American P-51 Mustang
Over 24 packed pages, we chart the rise of the one of the finest fighters to fly in World War Two. With rare colour images from the archive, we also examine its role in the Korean War. US historian Warren E Thompson describes its use in combat, and profiles some of the men that flew it.

Short Stirling: courage in the air
Steve Smith outlines the mauling that 218 Squadron Stirling bombers endured on one fateful operation.

B-17 Sentimental Journey
Looking back at the history of a famous US warbird – with stunning photography from Moose Peterson.

Hurricane Workshop
The story of a Hawker Hurricane restoration in Finland.

Ken Wallis
We pay tribute to the late Ken Wallis, an extraordinary aviator.

We also bring you breaking news about a Canadian Mosquito that is destined to fly again, and the arrival of VC10s and Harriers at UK museums. We look at a giant Lockheed Galaxy that has been flown into retirement in the US, and profile a Canadian museum’s new display hall, which features a Handley Page Halifax. Andrew Thomas tells the story of 230 Squadron, a Mustang flies in Germany, and we look back at several key airshows from the summer season.

Digital subscription for Flypast magazine

I have purchased the Flypast magazine for many years and generally as a hard copy. However, for the last couple of years l have subscribed annually to the digital version and now read on my iPad.
The magazine is great and I always find the content interesting and varied and never bored with the topics covered. Whilst previously enjoying the hard copy l am now a devoted digital subscriber and would recommend this version. On the downside you miss out on add ons such as calendars etc.
