This issue, Charlotte White from Restoration Cake ( shows you how to create a striking black and rose gold metallic cake with oversized blooms, that are easier to make than you might think!


I adore anything in rose gold at the moment, that shade of metallic just appeals to my magpie sensibility!

Creating a metallic cake can be as easy as choosing a nice metallic lustre dust and painting it on. Whereas I would suggest an airbrush for a flawless finish, a large makeup brush works just as well where a little rustic brushstroke isn’t a problem.

The flowers that I have created for this cake are inspired by the sugar Anemones that I made for a wedding this spring. They were really easy to make with just a couple of cutters that I had in my kit already, and I thought that I would share my super easy method with you here. In black and rose gold, I don’t think they can be called Anemones anymore, so let’s just call them ‘oversized blooms’ and have fun making them!
