Sow sweet pea seeds
Sow sweet peas and grow them on gently without heat in a cold frame, windowsill or cold greenhouse. Seedlings will strengthen in spring and can be planted outside for flowers all summer.
1 SOAK seeds overnight somewhere warm indoors, on damp kitchen paper or moist vermiculite. Cover them with a lid to prevent drying out.
2 SOW seeds in deep potsof peat-free multi-purpose compost at a depth of 2.5cm. Alternatively sow single seeds in 9cm pots to save potting on later.
3 LABEL pots with the variety name. Adding the date is useful, too. Give pots a soak, then place them in a cold frame or a dry, sheltered corner.
