From (Nearly) Obese to (Nearly) an Athlete

...or, how London’s Evolution of Man changed my life in just 12 weeks.

It’s not easy hearing that you’re borderline medically obese, but that’s exactly what I was told on my first meeting with Evolution of Man’s (EOM) patriarch and founder Tim Walker when we first met. After a weigh-in and severe prodding and poking with some rather unforgiving callipers, it turns out that a weight of 89kg and a body fat percentage of 27% put me right on the fine line of the o-word.

I always thought of myself as doughy in places, but never to the extreme of my weight being detrimental to my health; after sheepishly putting my t-shirt back on, Tim tells me that I “carried it well”, but that work needed to be done.
