Why do I always leave writing the Ed's Letter to the last minute? I think it’s because it gives me a chance to stand back from the issue and look at it with fresh eyes. And I can clearly see that this issue celebrates two things – new talent and fresh, diverse faces. It’s a privilege to see up-and-coming hairdressers rising through the ranks – and to give them a platform to showcase their work. And that’s what HJ is all about. In fact, our cover from Annabel Payne is a perfect example of this, she’s a finalist for Hj’s Newcomer of the Year, at the British Hairdressing Awards, sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional and she now has a cover to her name too! Anyone at the start of their hairdressing career should be inspired – it could be you next… Elsewhere in the magazine we have a corker of an interview that sees last year’s Newcomer of the Year, Kate Drury and two-times British Hairdresser of the Year, Sally Brooks interview each other. It’s such a good read – especially the bonus bit about sheep shearing! Turn to page 26 to find out why the two award-winning stylists are talking about livestock…
