What is it?
Everyone knows a fan of intermittent fasting or IF, which involves short periods of severe calorie restriction, interspersed with normal, healthy eating. Also known as periodic fasting or intermittent energy restriction (IER), it does seem to get results, at least in the short term. The most common version is the 5:2 diet, where you eat ‘normally’ for five days a week but stick to 500 calories a day on two days a week.
