The Paleo Diet

It’s back to basic food groups for this caveman-inspired eating plan


What is it?

The Paleo style of eating has been described as the ‘original human diet’. In principle, it includes only those foods our ancestors would have eaten in Paleolithic times. That means foods that were hunted (meat), caught (fish) or gathered (nuts, seeds, eggs, vegetables and fruit).

Given that animals had not been domesticated at that point in our evolution, dairy is off the menu and so, too, are pulses and cereals, which had not then begun to be grown or harvested. All refined carbohydrates and processed foods are off limits for the same reason.
