Jog with a dog

FINDINGS FROM A SMALL STUDY BY THE UNIVERSITY OF CHICHESTER suggest that, compared with jogging alone, running with a pooch may mean we get greater enjoyment from our workout and feel more positive and energised afterwards. This builds on earlier research that found dog owners felt happier and more relaxed when exercising with their pet.

If you’re among the one in four people in the UK who owns a dog, why not get in training for the Muddy Dog Challenge? This is a 2.5K or 5K obstacle run that you tackle together, raising some cash for Battersea Dogs & Cats Home while you boost your fitness.

That’s the number of extra calories we consume each year just by eating our children’s leftovers – the equivalent of a 7lb weight gain! Our advice? Keep a food waste diary for a week to help you better manage portion control and reduce leftovers AND eat together as a family so you have your own plate to focus on.
