As the Women’s World Cup brings the female game back into focus, so too comes the question of the gender disparity in our national game. Is equality too much to ask?

Taking some moderate-intensity exercise in the morning can make you more decisive, according to a study of older people aged 55-80. Combining this with three-minute walking breaks over the day – to disrupt any sitting – also appeared to boost short-term memory. Doing exercise, it turns out, elevates a protein that aids the growth of brain neurons, which can also improve attention and visual learning. Overall, exercise didn’t need to be gruelling either – a brisk walk suiced. The study concluded diferent exercises could one day even be used to enhance speciic cognitive skills like memory. In the meantime, keep moving.
