Should I try it?
DNAFit was launched in 2013 – the first gene analysis kit that focused on how your DNA impacts your fitness, specifically. From a mouth swab, scientists scan 45 gene variants that have a proven link to how we respond to food and exercise. Computer algorithms then decipher how to train your body in the most effective way based on your individual genetics. That includes information like your sensitivity to carbohydrates and saturated fats, personal antioxidant and vitamin needs, natural aptitude for types of sports, and recovery rates. The thinking is that we mere mortals can now train as efficiently as Olympians, and Olympians themselves have got behind it; 800m runner Jenny Meadows and long jumper Greg Rutherford are fans.
