FIVE HEALTHY RECIPES
‘Move, nourish, believe,’ is the mantra of Lorna Jane Clarkson, the self-professed active living advocate and brainchild behind the eponymous Australian sportswear, Lorna Jane. Her latest cookbook, Eat Good Food, echoes this sentiment: ‘If you want to look after yourself, both physically and mentally, you need to take care of the way you feed yourself first,’ Lorna explains. ‘When changing the way you think about food, you need to eat more mindfully. It should be a pleasure and not something done absentmindedly, so try to be present when you’re eating and take the time to enjoy the food (and people) in front of you. My philosophy is to eat according to what you feel your body needs for the day.’ As autumn blows in with cooler climes and darker days, Lorna doesn’t dismiss the need for a little indulgence. ‘It’s important not to be greedy, but not to deprive yourself either. Listen to your body, think about what you need to achieve your goals, then give yourself the nourishment you require to be at your best. There’s no way in my quest for good health that I could seriously think about not having a little sweet treat at the end of my day – I think it’s important to eat foods that excite you.’ Ease yourself in with these simple new-season eats.
