‘I thought I was far too young and healthy for breast cancer. So, in May 2015, when I brushed my hand against a lump on my left breast while getting dressed, I assumed it was just a fatty lump – I’d had a few after breast-feeding my two children, Joe, now 10, and Lois, four. After an ultrasound scan and a biopsy, doctors told me I didn’t have cancer, which reassured me. But over the next few months, the lump carried on growing and started to hurt, so in November I asked to have it removed.
