A new study has revealed the ultimate dieting hack, and you’re going to love it: eat what you like. The most successful dieters are those who add healthy foods they enjoy (like berries), limit – but don’t ban – their favourites (think chocolate), and cut out things they like, but can forgo (say crisps), report US researchers. The least successful dieters on the other hand, are those who ditch everything they love to eat and replace them with foods they recognise as healthy, but don’t enjoy at all (maybe kale). This approach is doomed to fail, say scientists – you’ll feel deprived, unmotivated and unhappy, and that’s no mental state for achieving success. So that’s a ‘no’ to deprivation and ‘yes’ to cake (in moderation). We like!
