We all want to protect against depression, and new research suggests it takes just 20 minutes a day. International scientists sifted through 49 global studies involving more than 250,000 people and found that when we stick to the recommended 150 minutes of moderate exercise (think brisk walking, cycling or jogging) a week – roughly 20 minutes a day – we’re far less likely to suffer depression. That lowered risk applied across sexes, agegroups and geographical locations, showing how universal the effects are. We can’t think of a better use of 20 minutes.
