HYPOCRITICAL JUSTICE?

As I was reading the article about the Nuremberg Trials (Nazis in the Dock, November 2015), I could not stop thinking: “What hypocrisy!”

US prosecutor Robert H Jackson described Fritz Sauckel, Nazi Commander of Forced Labour, as “the cruellest slaver since the Pharaohs”. He did not need to look so far back in time. The cruelty of American and British slavery would have been a much closer example. At the time of the trials, there was still segregation in the United States, and the lynching of black people by white citizens was a nonpunishable offence.
