Known as Twelvetide, the 12 days of Christmas officially start on 25 December and end on 5 January.
If you really want to make the most of this quiet time of the year, our riding and g roundwork ideas will help keep you inspired.
So why not find your motivation and prepare for some fun, by starting the new year as you mean to go on?
1. Try arena cross-country
If eventing’s your passion – or even if it’s not – why not bring the cross-country phase of this discipline into your arena by building some of the challenges you might meet out on course.
A sheet of tarpaulin (safely secured to the ground) can easily be turned into a ditch, use brush fillers to build skinnies or make arrowheads or corners using blocks and poles.
Arena cross-country is a great opportunity to brush up on your skills when the grass is too wet to ride on.
