Horseworld Trust is appealing for donations following its battle to save three severely neglected pregnant mares. They were rescued from terrible living conditions in a barn near Bristol and, unfortunately, despite the team’s best efforts, one of the horses had to be put to sleep following the discovery of an infected fracture in her foot. Vets and the Horseworld team provided 24/7 care for the remaining two mares to give them the best chance of making a recovery and of having healthy foals.
Due to the neglect they’d suffered, both mares, named Lisa Jane and Pink Champagne, had their foals prematurely and it was very uncertain whether either foal would survive. Against the odds, both made full recoveries and the charity named Lisa Jane’s foal Thor, as a mark of his strength, and Pink Champagne’s foal Pink Gin, in honour of her mother.
The vet bills reached a staggering £5,588 and Horseworld’s appealing for help with the foals’ care. To find out more, visit horseworld.org.uk
