When horses display undesirable behaviour, such as napping or fidgeting while tied up, it’s often dismissed as naughtiness or thought that they’re conspiring against us. In reality, horses aren’t able to plot and scheme, and such so-called bad behaviour is almost always a direct reaction to anxiety, fear or pain.
