My horse was recently diagnosed with gastric ulcers. My vet was brilliant and supportive throughout and recommended some social media groups I could join to ‘meet’ other owners going through the same thing. Since joining, I’ve been shocked by the number of posts from owners hoping to swerve vets (and their costs) to get medication without examination or diagnosis. I know that vet visits are costly, but you’re paying for more than just their time – you’re getting their expertise, too!
