It’s every equestrian’s favourite season – finally our horses are coming in clean from the field, competitions and clinics are filling up our diaries, and we can pack away the heavy raincoats and waterproof trousers for a few months. We don’t need to tell you that a hack with the sun on both your backs is one of the best ways to enjoy your horse’s company. But, to get you in the spirit, here are 13 reasons to rack up the miles over the next few months.
1. Summer showers don’t only encourage a bit of grass growth, they can soften up the ground to make it perfect for a pipe opener. This means it’s possible to boost your horse’s fi tness without boxing up to a gallop track.
2. From horseback you can easily enjoy the stunning patchwork views of the countryside while the trees and crops are in full bloom and the sky’s cloudless.
