It never hurts to ask your horse to stay on the same lead every so often to ensure he’s really listening.
Using raised poles, or cavaletti, is a recurring theme in this series. They help you practise technical exercises without tiring your horse and allow you to focus on the finer parts of his work without fixating on leaving the ground.
Once your horse is tackling this exercise comfortably and in a rhythm, try it over a fence. Keep it small to begin with, increasing the challenge with more height or a back rail.
