FOUR LEGGED FRIENDS
Dogs at equine events have been all over the news this year. Tom McEwen’s fall at Luhmühlen highlighted that even leads aren’t enough to keep some persistent offenders under control. It’s undeniable that at the highest level something may have to be done for the safety of horses and riders – Tom’s fall could’ve been much worse had he not been on such an honest ride. I adore dogs and have one of my own, but I think recent events have shown that if your dog doesn’t have good recall, whether or not he’s on the lead, then it’s best to leave him at home on cross-country day. Education might be the key and events could even run an award for the best behaved pooch!
