When you think of heavy horses, what do you picture? An idyllic, pastoral scene with a team of stoic Shires working the land – stalwarts of the agricultural industry in the days of yore? But heavy horses have so much more to offer than simply a sentimental postcard-worthy historical scene. Peer into the worlds of amateur dressage, urban policing and even the great parks of London and you’ll soon see that, in a country transformed by technology and innovation, heavies still very much hold their own.
