TOP TIP
If you have third parties attending your premises you have a duty of care to them and should make sure you also have the relevant health and safety procedures in place. This includes an up-to-date health and safety policy along with risk assessments.

I have a few stables at home and want to take on some liveries. What kind of insurance will I need?
Olivia Jacobs
A Kate Horne answers: Whether you have a private yard with a few liveries or run a large competition centre with 100 stables, it’s important that you’re suitably insured.
When liveries visit the yard and you have horses in your care there’s a chance that, if an injury occurs to a horse, rider or visitor, you could be held liable and this is where an insurance policy can protect you.
