SCOTLAND is closer to independence than perhaps at any time since the Union of 1707, and we have the Conservatives to thank for it. For many years, I have thought that the forced marriage between the Kingdom of Scotland and the Kingdom of England will come to an end, not because of the actions of those of us who support Scottish independence, but rather because of the deeds of those who oppose it. And so it is coming to pass. The actions of the Conservatives are coming back to bite the UK on the bum. It will prove to be a fatal wound.
